Neither store publishes a worldwide chart, so AppWinners combines the Top Paid charts of 195 countries into one ranking. Each position counts more the higher it is, and each country counts in proportion to its share of consumer spending on the store. It is an estimate built from public chart positions, not a download or revenue count.
How is the worldwide chart calculated?
Apple and Google only publish charts per country. We take today's Top Paid chart from each of 195 countries, give every position a score that falls off with rank (#1 counts far more than #50), multiply it by that country's share of consumer spending on the store, and add it up per app. The highest totals make the worldwide chart. If a country's chart could not be captured today, its chart from the previous day stands in.
Is this the official worldwide ranking?
No. The stores do not publish one. This is an AppWinners estimate from public chart positions. It shows which apps are winning across the most important markets at once, but it does not count downloads or revenue.
How often is the Worldwide Top Paid chart updated?
Google Play refreshes its charts several times a day. AppWinners captures one snapshot per day at about 06:00 UTC and keeps every snapshot, so you can compare any day with any other.

Top Paid ranks apps that cost money up front, by the number of purchases over a short recent window.
