Top Free News Apps Worldwide Today – App Store

About this chart

Top Free News iPhone apps worldwide on the App Store on 19 Oct 2026: X, Reddit, Substack lead. Neither store publishes a worldwide chart, so AppWinners combines the Top Free charts of 175 countries into one ranking. Each position counts more the higher it is, and each country counts in proportion to its share of the store's downloads. It is an estimate built from public chart positions, not a download or revenue count.

How is the worldwide chart calculated?

Apple and Google only publish charts per country. We take today's Top Free chart from each of 175 countries, give every position a score that falls off with rank (#1 counts far more than #50), multiply it by that country's share of downloads on the store, and add it up per app. The highest totals make the worldwide chart. If a country's chart could not be captured today, its chart from the previous day stands in.

Is this the official worldwide ranking?

No. The stores do not publish one. This is an AppWinners estimate from public chart positions. It shows which apps are winning across the most important markets at once, but it does not count downloads or revenue.

How often is the Worldwide Top Free chart updated?

iOS App Store refreshes its charts several times a day. AppWinners captures one snapshot per day at about 06:00 UTC and keeps every snapshot, so you can compare any day with any other.

What does Top Free mean?

Top Free ranks apps with no up-front price by the number of new downloads over a short recent window, weighted towards the last day or two.

How many apps does the chart show?

200 apps today. The iOS App Store publishes up to 100 positions for this chart; we show every position the store published.

Why is my app not on this chart?

The worldwide chart only includes apps that reach the top charts of the countries that carry the most weight. Search for your app to see every country chart it is on today.

Can I see this chart for another country or category?

Yes. Use the country and category controls above the list, or press 1, 2, 3 to switch between Free, Paid and Grossing and s to switch store.
